Abstract

In the present study, the antifungal effect of ethanolic garlic and Artemisia sieberia extracts on incubation period of rainbow trout was investigated. Ethanolic extracts were provided from dried herbs by common extraction method (with purity degree of 80-85%). In our survey different treatments were used including garlic treatments (50, 100 and 200 ml/l), Artemisia sieberia extracts (25, 50 and 100 ml/l), Malachite green treatment (positive control) and control group or negative control without pharmacological intervention. According to the results, ethanolic extract of garlic (200 ppm) could prevent fungal growth in culturing center of rainbow trout, consequently hatching rate and larval survival would increase significantly. Compared to malachite green, garlic extract showed better effect and could be replaced.
